Patiala House @ EROS One Cinema: An Average Movie yet an Exceptional Luxury Experience!
EROS One Cinema: 5/5
‘Patiala House’ is a film that is certainly not one of the better works of Akshay Kumar, who has been failing to recreate the same sensation that he did in 2007 and 2008 with his work in Namastey London, Welcome, Heyy Babyy,Singh is King and also Housefull in 2010. It’s a typical old-fashioned Bollywood drama where everything works out well in the end.
Akshay in his role as Gattu, portrays an extinguishing breed of men, who would die for their parents wish. His desire to become an English cricketer gets slaughtered due to his dad’s tenacity of not letting him be part of anything with an English title. Rishi Kapoor, plays the role of Gattu’s dad aka ‘bauji’, a self-made Sikh tycoon from Southall, London which is perhaps the most powerful role in the movie. He’s lost his relative to racial discrimination and therefore has turned Anti-British.
After watch Laagan and Chak De, one would have thought that ‘Sports’ is a secret recipe for achieving a block buster in Hindi cinema however movies like Patiala House and even GOAL for that matter will reinstate your belief in the power of a story/script.
Anushka Sharma, who is looking gorgeous in the movie, plays a courageous and full of life kinda girl who inspires Gattu (Akshay) to follow his dreams. She somehow manages to convince everyone in the family to take up a stance against the hard-hearted ‘bauji.’ Wish the superstar couple Rishi Kapoor and Dimple Kapadia was put to a better use, Dimple Kapadia was hardly noticeable.
Patiala House was a movie that I’d say was like ‘just another’ however the watching pleasure at EROS One Cinema was simply like ‘No other’.
We saw the movie at Eros One Cinema and must say that the movie experience at EROS Cinema was definitely commendable! Go check it out yourself! Lounge seating was similar to that of Kingdom of Dreams; simply superb…here are some glimpse of what’s inside.
